Hospital Is Imminent; Michy is Eminent

So here she goes again with another post about her health. Seems all Michy ever talks about anymore is her health… well, it’s true. I know it’s true, because it’s bugging the crap out of me that there doesn’t seem to be anything but my health in my life right now. I wake up, take my temps, take my BP, take my blood sugar, record it all, then take my meds, set my alarm to take the next round of meds, and then lay back down and wait for the meds to kick in. I take my pulse ox several times per day. I can’t get out of bed by myself, can’t walk without nearly passing out, or sometimes actually passing out, and I can’t even roll over in bed without my pulse hitting over 140… all of this with oxygen tubes stuck up my nose.

… so yeah, with all this, I can say my health takes front and center for nearly everything in my life and because I feel bad, I can barely function right now. Fortunately, I have good people around me who help med out, but I feel so guilty when I can’t do even the simplest things for myself. I can’t even go to the bathroom without help. That’s degrading in ways you can’t even imagine.

Just typing this right now, I have to take several breaks, because the muscles in my arms get tired of holding themselves up and I have to pull them back and let them rest between paragraphs just to get through typing this.

I can’t do anything I love.

And by anything, you know, of course, I mean… ahem, anyone. Yeah. Ahem. Okay. Moving along…. (more…)

89 and 127.

82 and 140.

90 and 101.

And then there’s these: 96.3, 97.6, 100.3, 97.8, 96.8, 96.9.

And then there’s these too: 123/74, 116/83, 109/72, 147/96.

My Heart is Not Broken, But Something Else Is

If it’s not one thing, it will always be another, because that’s the way things go… one thing leads to another... (yes, I can hear you singing that ’80s tune in your head now, and if you’re not, then you’ll click that link and go listen and get it stuck in your head and be mad at me for it! Ha!)…

But where my health is concerned, I believe that I have now researched, studied, watched videos, read about, and asked questions of doctors and literally been to dozens, if not more, doctors. I have actually been more knowledgeable about some of the medications the docs gave me and some of the conditions I’m dealing with than the doctors are. I feel almost like I’m getting a medical degree, not much different than the PAs and NPs I see at the teaching hospital clinic where I currently go. Sometimes, I have caught mistakes or interactions that were missed by docs. It’s proactive, but it’s sort of scary when you think that some patients take what doctors say as gospel truth and then don’t do the research or catch these mistakes. Docs are only human. Mistakes do happen. (more…)

Michy’s Murphy’s Laws–Ironic Little Life Funnies

We bought my big dog, Jake The Dog, a feeding trough. It’s a bench-type food bowl, made just for dogs like him, an 85 pound plus dog, so that they don’t have to bend over and put strain on the spine to eat out of a traditional food bowl. It’s supposed to be good to use it from the time they are young, so their backs stay strong and healthy as they age. He loves his trough. He goes right to it, scoops up a huge mouthful of food, walks two feet away, tosses the food on the floor, bends over and eats it, then goes back to the trough.

The quietness of the house is proportionate to the damage the teenage boy (Brat Boy) is doing and thinks he’s being sneaky about. (more…)
